Chiptunes need to make a comeback

Obviously they're a good thing and need to make a comeback. Deadmau5 was playing around with them earlier and I'm excited to hear more.

Tiesto's Gem

I bought one of tiesto's less popular albums about 3 years ago and this track is easily my favourite out of all of them.

It's a nice little gem, and I think it fits nicely into the summer segment even though it's not DnB.

Enjoy.

Some nice summery DnB

As summer rolls around the corner, I'm going to try and do another "segment" like my Aussie hip hop one but this will be for, what I call, Summery Drum N Bass.

I just imagine driving around in the summer while listening to these tracks. I miss my car and Vancouver summers suck, but this music is a nice reminder of what I want summer to be =)

Enjoy.

Something different

Not sure If I should be calling this dubstep or electro, regardless, it's awesome and I hope you like it!

The people in the front row

Keeping with the aussie theme I was going for, we end up with "The Hilltop Hoods"

These guys are amazing and i'll be sharing them for the next bit.

Yeah brew

Out of the very few australian hip hop groups I've heard, I've loved every single one so I'll be posting some of my favourites for everyone.

Enjoy.

I'm back, sorry for that little hiccup.

Finals, then whistler after school finished, then scratched my eye and couldn't see anything. BUT HAVE NO FEAR, I have returned with half of my vision and I'll be back to posting regularly.

We'll get back into the swing of things with some of that hippity hop those damn kids are listening to.

Enjoy!

Cut a smile across your face for life

I forget where I found this song, but I still love it just as much as the day I found it. All of "Mint Royale's" other stuff is amazing as well.

Actually, I'll post two songs just to help convince you =)

Mint Royale - Show Me

Mint Royale - Singin' In The Rain

Uhh YEP

Always love when a song makes you feel something inside.

UHHHHH YEP

Tuesday, April 12, 2011

You know that feeling?

When you know only a couple words or beats to a song, and can recite them PERFECTLY, but you forget the rest and can't even remember the name of the song?

Well this god damn song evaded me for way too long and I finally found it.

SO HA! Take THAT!!

I always wanted to fly jets

No idea why, I just always have. I really love this video, it just gives me such a good feeling and rush of emotion whenever I watch it.

I don't know if getting involved in flying jets at age 20 is something reasonable, either because I'm too young, or didn't do it soon enough, no idea. It's always nice to have that hidden passion though :)

Enjoy.

I present... "Okay City"

Two solid tracks, hope you enjoy.

Okay City - Potency

Incise feat. Okay City, Shad & David Morin - Paving The Way

Today was a good day

My idea for my final project got the green light! Thumbs up.

Mac Miller

Alright so, if you know me personally, you can safely say that I have an unconditional love for Mac Miller.

The first song I ever heard by him was Don't Mind If I Do. The instrumental is obviously taken from Owl City's "Fireflies" and sped up, however it sounds amazing.

Mac Miller - Don't Mind If I Do from Ian Rex Arrow Wolfson on Vimeo.

After hearing Don't Mind If I Do, naturally I started listening to more of his stuff and instantly fell in love with his style.

A few months after finding him I realized he'd be coming to Vancouver for his first ever Canadian live show. I went with a few buddies and it was one of the best shows I've been to.

Amazingly, near the end of the show, he threw his toque into the crowd and I ended up catching it, only multiplying my love for the kid by that much more.

Anyways today, he released his newest music video, "Get up" and it's full of footage from his live shows, including the Vancouver show while wearing the hat. I've been loving this whole thing since the day I heard of him and this is simply adding to everything.

Thumbs high! HA HAAAAA!

THIS COULD BE IT FOLKS

This could probably be one of the best dub remixes I've ever heard.

Have fun...

Edit: I also love the video and I want to try 4:36 - 4:49 before I die.

Airplane

I'm pretty sure this was one of the first drum n bass tracks I ever heard. I think my brother was playing it and I really enjoyed it, hope you do too.

Goo goo ga ga

Skrillex' amazing new track.

Baby talk, wobbles, screaming crowds, what more do we really need?

TOO sick...

A change of pace

Always been a huge fan of underground hip hop, especially the few tunes out there that you can literally just sit back, close your eyes, and relax too.

It's been a while since I stumbled upon a really solid track like that but today I found one.

If you guys know of anything else like this, with a solid beat and relaxing melody, let me know in the comments.

Happy friday!

THIS CAME ON DURING LUNCH

I was eating in a little coffee shop at lunch today.

This song came on.

I thought of The Breakfast Club.

I posted it here.

Warm Fuzzies

This song is unreal.

Bare Noize dropped it in the middle of his set 2 weeks ago and it was so amazing I figured I'd share.

The official video for it is below, but it cuts the song in ideal places. HOWEVER, it is an amazing video about a group of guys and their rave/EDM passion, very very cool.

Modestep

Not a new genre or anything. Just a kind of hidden group that have made two personal favourites. Apparently when they play live, they play as a band, could be really interesting. Hope you like them!

"Feel Good"

And, "Sunlight"

Singing at dubstep shows

One thing I'd love to have more of at dubstep shows, is singing. Most of the show is just mindless flailing around to the music, but when a beautiful song like this comes on, it feels great to just scream the very few lyrics that there are.

2 Songs 1 Remix

Not new tracks, but still great regardless. The original keeps it upbeat while the remix slows it down into a nice dubstep track.

Both videos are really great as well.

Zed killed Vancouver

The aftermovie for Zed's Dead show in Vancouver was just released. I'm from Toronto, all my friends have seen them and I was so glad they were finally coming so I could see them too.

I was having a really busy week and wasn't looking forward to this at all, of course, once they came on stage I couldn't of been happier. The show was surprisingly upbeat and the song in the video was probably the most mellow song that was played all night.

Amazing show, glad I went, and I'm hoping they come back for round 2.

*EDIT: Just noticed that I'm on the thumbnail with my best buddy, about an inch left from the play button. You can check him out @ Hurt-Somebody

Once in a lifetime

Pendulum came to Vancouver on February 20th and it was the best show I've ever been to. He rarely tours outside of Europe but if he ever comes back I'll pay an arm and a leg to see him again, no question.

Here's some live footage from the show

And my favourite song off his new album, immersion.

Bong Bong Bong

Always hated hardstyle, That same bass note, bong bong bong bong, in every single song. However you can say the same for dubstep with it's wobbles and electro with it's kicks and snares. Both genres I really enjoy.

After watching a bunch of festival aftermovie's like this (below) I decided to give it a shot.

I've been listening to the genre for a day or two now and I'm really starting to like it, here's my new "favourite" track I guess you could say from this new discovery.

Give it a shot, maybe you'll like it too!

Sunday night

Soaking up the last bit of the weekend.

This week is going to be a shitstorm for me.

Something DFRNT

YOU WANT SUMMA DEM SUBWOOFAZZZ?

Soothing

Most people find electronic music to be "High Energy" or "unce unce unce techno beats yeah" then they'll try to argue, "it all sounds exactly the same".

I love working with lyric-less trance in the background, I find it soothing, maybe I'm just weird.

Let the viewers in!

First post, might as well kick things off with a banger from my boy Mac Miller.
His Best Day Ever mixtape is out tomorrow as well so even more reason to get excited.

enjoy.
